Last year at this time I was just days away from my Anterior
Cruciate Ligament reconstruction
surgery. I actually cannot believe it hasn’t even been a year as it feels like
it happened ages ago, although my scars still look pretty newish.
I spend
the first half of the year training with a physiotherapist and I am so glad I
took the time, and spend the money to go through proper rehab, even though l
did not enjoy running around a rugby field during my lunch hour in 40 degrees.
It taught me discipline and kicked of my pre wedding training routine that I
would probably have left to the very end when it was actually too late to make
a difference.
I still
feel a bit awkward when running. It’s like my one leg is heavier than the other
and I usually end up looking like an idiot as I over compensate in the lifting
of the ‘heavier’ leg. Also jumping rope, which I use to love doing, has turned
into a comedy show. I still guard my knee a lot and always think before I
execute any jump/run move, but I know this will get better with time. I really
want to start playing Netball again, but at the moment I am just too terrified.
Maybe next year?
Even
though my knee is usually really stiff the day after a night of dancing, you
can bet your bottom that’s not stopping me from getting my groove on at the
wedding. I’ll be the one in the white dress doing the Bart Simpson, or
something equally embarrassing.

Ah my sweets, glad to hear you've been on the mend. Can't wait to see the wedding pics. Hope you're having a fab festive season x
